Important Organizations
Kukkiwon, also known as World Taekwondo Headquarters, and home of the World Taekwondo Academy, is where the official taekwondo governing organization was established by the South Korean government. It is supervised by the International Sports Division of the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism.
World Taekwondo (WT) is the international governing body for the sport of taekwondo. It was previously known as the World Taekwondo Federation until June 2017. WT is a member of the Association of Summer Olympic International Federations (ASOIF) and the International Paralympic Committee (IPC).
USA Taekwondo (USAT) is the national governing body for taekwondo in the United States. USAT is a non-profit organization that aims to promote taekwondo in the country and help athletes achieve excellence in the sport. USAT is a member of the U.S. Olympic & Paralympic Committee, World Taekwondo, and the Pan American Taekwondo Union.
